Daily Wisdom, Proverbs 9

Proverbs 9

"Wisdom has built her house, she has hewn out her seven pillars; she has prepared her food, she has mixed her wine; she has also set her table; she has sent out her maidens, she calls from the tops of the heights of the city: 'Whoever is naive, let him turn in here!' To him who lacks understanding she says, 'Come, eat of my food and drink of the wine I have mixed. Forsake your folly and live, and proceed in the way of understanding'" (verses 1-6).

Wisdom is available for everyone. She invites and welcomes all to take part in what she offers, and her offering is life.

Think about a house, it is a dwelling place where others are invited. It's an environment where people are able to fellowship together, share stories and learn. It is a place that is constant. And wisdom offers these things. It invites, it allows for fellowship, and it is a constant thing that is available for all. but some reject it when it is offered, and refuse to seek it on their own.

"He who corrects a scoffer gets dishonor for himself, and he who reproves a wicked man gets insults for himself. Do not reprove a scoffer, or he will hate you, reprove a wise man and he will love you. Give instruction to a wise man and he will be still wiser, teach a righteous man and he will increase his learning. The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. For by me your days will be multiplied, and years of life will be added to you. If you are wise, you are wise for yourself, and if you scoff, you alone will bear it" (verses 7-12).

The wise seek wisdom and love those who add to theirs, but fools hate correction. Those who posses no wisdom hate when it is offered and despise those who offer it to them. But when those who seek wisdom are offer it, they eat it up. They soak up all that they can get of it, even if it means correction.

With wisdom comes life, because wisdom begins with the fear of the Lord. Sin and wisdom can't coexist, because wisdom is something that only comes from fearing God. Acknowledging God, for His power and holiness is the only way to begin to come into the possession of wisdom.

Wisdom is readily available, but it can only be found by those who fear the Lord, this is the message of Proverbs 9.

"I have been young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or his descendants begging bread."

To God alone be the Glory!

Peace be with you
