Proverbs 26
Tonight is going to be a short post.
This proverbs doesn't talk much about wisdom, or what the life of the righteous looks like. Instead it talks about the fool, the gossip, and the sluggard. We see the destruction that each one brings. Each one is useless in society and brings nothing but destruction. And none of the fit in the life of the wise.
As I read this today and thought about what to write a verse came to my mind, "The fool has said in his heart, 'There is no God.' They are corrupt, they have committed abominable deeds; there is no one who does good" (Psalm 14.1). The fool is useless and destructive because he denies the existence of life. There can be nothing but death for the fool because they refuse to even acknowledge God.
Without God there is no honor, no wisdom. There is punishment and folly, and the sentence to repeat it. "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding" (Proverbs 9.10). By denying God we forfeit wisdom, and take our place among the fools. And nothing good is worthy of them or found among them.
"I have been young and now I am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken or his descendants begging bread."
To God alone be the Glory!
Peace be with you
